A new city building game will be hitting the Mac App Store on the 15th. The game will be free to play as well.

From the press release:

Leading casual games publisher G5 Entertainment today announced its extremely successful social city-building simulation game, Virtual City Playground, will grace the Mac platform on December 15th, 2011. Virtual City Playground is the free follow-up to G5 Entertainment’s Virtual City, keeping many of the first game’s basic concepts, but adding in a new style of gameplay that will be familiar to players of games like Cityville. The game has won the hearts of millions of players worldwide and topped all major casual game charts.

In this “Sim City”-esque game, your goal is to build and grow the prosperous city of your dreams. The game is in-depth and enjoyable while lacking the complexity of similar simulation city builders which hinders the enjoyment of such time management games. Virtual City Playground fills a noticeable gap in the city-builder genre on Mac.

Unleash your inner mayor – build anything you wish and everything that makes your citizens happier: dwelling houses, industrial buildings, shopping malls, places of entertainment… Make even your most ambitious dreams a reality! The game comes with new quests and winter-related content that will add holiday spirit to the gameplay.

    Key Features:

    • Play sandbox mode for FREE! No predefined missions
    • Over 120 new optional quests
    • Over 100 new buildings, landmarks, and decorations, including Eiffel Tower, Statue of Liberty, Coliseum, Sydney Opera, and many more!
    • 100 Achievements to earn
    • Regular FREE updates that will bring more content!
    • Facebook integration
    • Minimized games continue transporting goods – making you money, even while you sleep!

Virtual City Playground is developed and published by G5 Entertainment.
