One of the things that bugs me the most about this generation is business of allowing certain retailers to get specific pre-order bonuses. It’s totally against the player as it forces them to choose what is more important to them based on the items offered. No idea why developers do this, but I hope it stops sometime soon. Either way, it looks as though players who pre-order Mass Effect 3 at Gamestop or through EA’s online store will receive an extra item. Sucks for those who pre-ordered through Amazon. Anyway bonuses are listed below.

From the press release:

Gear up and take Earth back in the Action RPG, Mass Effect™ 3! On March 6, Earth is ground zero in a battle to save the galaxy, and EA and BioWare are giving gamers an opportunity to arm themselves with cutting edge weapons and armor to prepare for the upcoming war.

Starting today, with each pre-order purchase of Mass Effect 3 at participating retailers, fans will receive the M55 Argus Assault Rifle*. Deadly at any range, the Argus boasts quick burst-fire to ensure ammo conservation and maximum accuracy on the battlefield.

Additionally, fans who pre-order at select retailers in U.S. and Canada will receive the following items:

N7 Warfare Gear, exclusive to fans who pre-order at GameStop and EB Games*, which includes:

    • AT-12 Raider Shotgun – Available to PC players who pre-order through EA’s Origin service*, the AT-12 Raider Shotgun fires a large pellet spread, ensuring maximum coverage for close-range targets. Designed for superior rapid fire, the AT-12 allows for optimal recovery time between shots.

The Mass Effect franchise is set in a science fiction universe blending world-class shooter combat with interactive and cinematic storytelling and space exploration. It is one of the most highly decorated series in the history of games, having earned over 200 international awards including the 2011 AIAS Interactive Achievement Award for Game of the Year for Mass Effect 2. Recently announced as the winner of Spike TV’s 2011 Video Game Awards Most Anticipated Game of 2012, Mass Effect 3 enhances all elements of gameplay from its critically acclaimed predecessors and tells the beginning and end of the epic war against a highly advanced alien race, and Commander Shepard’s desperate struggle to take Earth back.
